The Megève grocery store

By Food and Wonders

A Megève institution that opened over 70 years ago, the family-run Roc grocery store became L'Épicerie des Megève last winter, run by Les Fermes de Marie. What can you find there? A delicious selection of local and artisanal products, as well as items from around the world that can only be found here and nowhere else, carefully chosen by Marie and Nicolas Sibuet. In short, nothing but the very best.

Mise en bouche

Make no mistake, this little grocery store, at the crossroads of 5 streets, is full of sweet and savoury wonders for any self-respecting gourmet. There are some 1,000 hand-picked items, carefully sourced in Italy from local producers and artisans, but also from the travels and favourites of Marie and Nicolas Sibuet, a very fine wine and alcohol list with more than 400 items, and a host of lovingly concocted delicacies. "We work a lot on the selection of our products, which we are constantly refining, and the niche products which can also be English or American, the whole being to be always qualitative and consistent. This grocery store is also part of the continuity of our hotel and restaurant business because we are keen to give meaning to what we do, by going further in each of our houses, in complementary circuits. »

And since the Sibuets like things done right, the products are obviously seasonal, even if it's tempting, Nicolas admits, to want them all year round... like truffle ham. So what's on the menu? A selection of divine charcuterie and cheeses, sourced from the Aosta Valley or local producers and master cheesemakers in Flumet, Combloux, Demi-Quartier, and Thonon, farmhouse yogurts, locally grown fruit and vegetables (sustainable or organic, of course), homemade honey from Les Fermes de Paris or La Maison du Miel in Paris, nocciolata made by an Italian family in Piedmont with hand-picked hazelnuts, delicate olive oils made in Tourtour or by Alexis Munoz, truffles from the Luberon, caviar from Kaviari, as well as homemade foie gras and smoked salmon... The Épicerie de Megève also offers a very (very) enviable catering menu in this ultra-gourmet shop, with takeaway or delivery options available every day, all year round, all homemade in its kitchens in Megève. What's on the menu? Pâtés en croûte and terrines, truffle coquillettes, veal blanquette or bourguignonne, the perfect Savoyard fondue kit, as well as soups, ice creams, cakes, coulis, jams... In short, a wealth of delicious finds, ranging from authentic local specialties to more gourmet offerings. Wine and spirits lovers are not left out either, as Nicolas hunts down rare wines, in addition to the Maisons et Hôtels Sibuet's own wines, made in the heart of the Luberon, in Ménerbes, at the Domaine de Marie. The true taste of good things.
